Albums
The discography of American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and several compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards for their work.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 following the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics due to not having hit singles. In 1985 the lead singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group and the group held auditions for the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the band. The band went through old tapes and recordings to create the special record. The album was well-received by fans, and the band embarked upon the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun The drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour and an interview with the group.

Toto has released numerous music videos. The band has also released several compilation videos and DVDs. The most popular video of the band is "Africa", with over one billion views. The video is set in a library, with the band performing atop a stack of African books.
The song "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. It was written by band members and produced by David Paich. It was a big hit in Europe and other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their popularity following their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in the United States.
Following the release of the album, Toto went on a world tour. The group was joined by touring musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. Steve Lukather also released his second solo record, Luke.
In 1985, Fergie Frederiksen, Toto's drummer, quit the group due to personal reasons. Toto held an audition to find an alternative for Frederiksen.
Before and during the time of Toto's creation the members of the group worked as session musicians for a wide range of artists. Toto was founded following Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and Boz Scaggs recorded Silk Degrees. Keyboardist Paich was frequent on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto began working on a special project called Old Is New. This album included three new tracks, as well as several finished recordings of old songs. The album received a lot of attention across the globe and the band embarked on a world tour to promote the album.
